You can have them...no kidding.
Here in Texas...we have discretion to do similar....
However, we/cops, also are accountable and responsible for that persons actions, during and afterwards. Meaning, ya take the drunk home...he wakes up in thirty minutes, gets into his car, drives off and kills somebody? You the cop are responsible both criminally and civilly. The only way around that is to release that drunk to another sober adult, who will assume the liability and care of said drunk person until he/she sobers up.

I get what yer meaning...just wanted you to know that "Cagney & Lacey" left their selves walking around with their skirts around their ankles...for the duration. Which, leads to short careers and getting knocked up. That's why they didn't leave their real names...just sayin'
