Progressive Education

Odds are...that if you are under fifty years of age......you have had one.....If, you are under 55 years of age and attended a college or university, for sure you have had one.....
Most of the recipients of the aforemention education.....have a feverent, almost religious belief in what they were taught...
What they have in common is this....they were taught never to question....never to disagree....and to go along with the program...and they did.... Now a few are beginning to wake up...they are re-educating themselves...they are beginning to question boldly.....and the "Progressives" have no meaningful answers....other than...throw'em some health care that'll shut'em up....oops, health care ain't working....quick find a crisis to distract'em....damn, no available crisis...quick, make one up......in the mean time..go on TV and bullshit'em some more...buy some time....just wear'em out.....they'll go away....

complete bullshit. Anyone who 'doesn't question' , didn't get an education. Period.

I know lots of college educated people that believe hook line and sinker what their education system taught them. They drank the kool-aid. For instance, all of you global warming fags: NASA just announced that 2009 was the second coldest year on record. I met a college kid just a couple of weeks ago who buys into all the bullshit his environmental science classes are teaching him. He didn't have an answer for NASA's announcement.
Can't wait to see college boy again and hit him with this:
The scientist behind the bogus claim in a Nobel Prize-winning UN report that Himalayan glaciers will have melted by 2035 last night admitted it was included purely to put political pressure on world leaders.
Dr Murari Lal also said he was well aware the statement, in the 2007 report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), did not rest on peer-reviewed scientific research.
...
Dr Lal said: ‘We knew the WWF report with the 2035 date was “grey literature” [material not published in a peer-reviewed journal]. But it was never picked up by any of the authors in our working group, nor by any of the more than 500 external reviewers, by the governments to which it was sent, or by the final IPCC review editors.
Ya know, most of us that have been lied to a couple of times tend
not to believe when that entity speaks. Yet lamers like Slick continue to decry the DNC party's views yet ignore common sense or facts that prove the opposite.

well, then their either got ripped off on an education, or didn't get the education offered. Because, education, especially higher education, is all about critical thinking. I'm not doubting what you said, just that it isn't a reflection on the idea of education.
By the way, Pudfark mentions Progressive Education, as if that has any meaning. Really, isn't education supposed to prepare one to move on into the future? What would be a Conservative Education, preparation to move back into the past? How far, then? Maybe pre-industrial, or just pre-nuclear power? Early agrarian, or hunter/gatherers?
yeesh!

College education since the 60's has been left leaning and full of lies and it's more about political ideas than about real education. Same thing has happened in public schools. You just didn't have the child left behind bullshit 25 years ago. You didn't have school shootings. You didn't have government schools raising kids. The DNC is responsible for all that shit.

and you know this, because you attended which one?

I don't think the government is responsible for most of the issues in public schools, nor is the education system. It is an ever-dumber public, willing to cede responsibility(and thus, blame) to someone else, focused on getting rich quickly, without effort and not valuing education. That has utterly no relation to party politics, as the trend has continued, unabated, through all sorts of political leadership.

Bullshit. Where are the 3 R's? Hell, if kids don't wanna participate in P.E. they don't have to any more. Our public schools are more interested in the lowest common denominator rather than trying to get kids to excel. This country became a superpower because of strong body, strong mind and strong will yet our school doesn't teach any of that stuff any more. They're busy spending part of their budget to teach kids who are here illegally english while the kids whose parents pay for those schools get shortchanged. 25 years ago there were several dozen of us who had firearms in our vehicles. Never had a school shooting. But again we had a rifle team and respect for firearms was taught. Hell, respect for teachers was taught and we also got to go to the principal for a spanking (even in high school) if we fecked up. Kids are smart, they know they don't have to listen to teachers and there will be no punishment. How do you raise a kid without boundaries? You don't. If there isn't fear then you're shortchanging your child.

well, they still teach reading, arithmetic, and writing in my local school system. Does Phoenix differ?

once again, not in the school districts near to either of my homes.

I dare say you could go to any high school in Philadelphia, New York, Chicago or LA and get a far higher number than that.

and, the school provides the fear factor? When I grew up, and where I grew up, any and all respect was generated by my parents. School didn't have a fucking thing to do with it. And that, my friend, is what has
changed. Not the schools.
