I don't agree...ya gotta know the rednecks out here.
Damn near everyone of them would be out huntin' deer with grandpa's 67 Ford PU with a one ton brush guard on the front...
Children on sidewalks would no longer be safe.... China would start exporting tires, made to be driven on the shoulder of the road.

Both curbs in Texas would be broken to pieces with in a matter of days. Both fire hydrants would be gone too.
I won't even go into the "bus stop" abuses that would occur. "Deer Crossing" signs would prolly be considered as "baiting".
Not to mention the regulatory issues....like, how many deer are ya allowed to run over annually?

I could go on....though, I'd bet ya see the point.
Last word..what would the buzzards eat?

Perhaps....I should forward you...some "urban flat cat" recipes?
Or if'n ya prefer "woking dog"? Maybe some city "chinese food"?

The biggest deer, I've ever killed?
Was with a 305 4 barrel.

A brand new 1981 Chevy Station Wagon...
Hit that sucker at 70mph...put him right down.
Never gave a thought...to pulling (what was left of) him out of the fender/grill...and eating him.

However, had I known of your interest in "eating out"...I'd a saved what remained of the buzzard that
came through the windshield at 70mph...after I finished scraping it off my two little puppies, the seat and my lap/chest.

Not to mention...when a logging truck....hits several of them 300 pound feral hogs....at 70+mph on the highway...looks like a 155mm howitzer went off....what's left? A few scraps of hide and a huge splatter mark.

So, no/know thanks....on a roadkill law.

Look, Pud, I've lived in some pretty rural areas, and spent a LOT of time in others. Most of that time would be in New England and the Mid-Atlantic. All have laws allowing a person to keep a deer for personal use if killed via motor vehicle. My ex got a big one up in CT, didn't do shit to her '64 Fairlaine, except bust a headlamp. The bottom line is this: it is far better that the meat be put to use, even if donated to a local food bank. I've never heard one instance of anyone purposely aiming for deer or moose(that would be plain nuts). Maybe Texans just think 'differently'.....

Well, I was mainly trying to make fun of myself... :)

Though, with the current situation in this country?
Eating off the curb...may be just around the corner...for many.

Well, Slick...you're the one who offered "road kill" as the palatable solution.....

I've consumed two 'road kill' deer. One was tasty(plunked near a corn field), the other not so much so(emerged from around a salt marsh). Venison is venison. Oh, and all I suggested was that in a world with limited food, wasting any is foolish......wouldn't you agree? That just seems like common sense.

just read my last two words, above, and I think I see the problem you're having.... ;)

Glad ya picked "common sense".
It's common here.
Y'all oughta consider changing yer States name...cuz nuthin about it is "aware".

Go to yer Texas map...compute the mileage from Orange,Tx to El Paso, Tx.
Then figure out how long it'll take to drive it...think about that lovely busted up run over dead deer in yer trunk?
Think how Mom's gonna kick yer ass fer stinkin' up the family ride. BTW, it don't smell no better in the bed of a PU truck,
but...that's just "common sense". ;)
