Let me tell you something mate, I come from Irish stock, the last thing I could ever be is a Nazi based on the fact that my people have been on the receiving end of oppression and racism for centuries. Furthermore, I personally ( and my parents/grandparents ad finitum ) have never been swayed by dictators or their ilk ( otherwise we would be a whole lot better off . )
Secondly, since my people came to the UK, we have fought in every war since 1878, without exception, and in the last big one ( WW2 ) 4 McGuires and 2 Ohanlons lost their lives between 39-45 ( just my direct line, add extended family and the list is longer ) My uncle was at the liberation of Belsen, we are not Nazis.
Lastly, you are over using the word "progressive", I assume this is due to the latest round of emails from the Republicans ( I get some too as it happens, due to having to subscribe to see some articles a while back ) and it is funny as hell watching the rightwingtards regurgitate the same crap that is emailed from the repube bunker, being posted here

I live in a "Free" country, one which became free for people like me, only after a long struggle, even now we have idiots suggesting that people like me go back to Ireland. To which I reply, no, you fuck off back to Saxony or Normandy or wherever your ancestors spunked from. As to politics, I lean to the left, you might even call me a Socialist, in that I believe in personal freedom within responsibility, and the fair distribution of resources ( based on need and merit, but also on compassion ).

Abe freeing the slaves might not have been as altruistic as you imagine, there was a lot of politics involved too. As to the radiation tests etc, wtf are you on about? Both right and left wing governments in both our countries are complicit in a multitude of sins. You don't need to be a left or a righty to be a maniac.
