"WASHINGTON (Jan. 31) - President Barack Obama is endorsing nuclear energy like never before, trying to win over Republicans and moderate Democrats on climate and energy legislation.
Obama singled out nuclear power in his State of the Union address, and his spending plan for the next budget year is expected to include billions more dollars in federal guarantees for new nuclear reactors. This emphasis reflects both the political difficulties of passing a climate bill in an election year and a shift from his once cautious embrace of nuclear energy.
He's now calling for a new generation of nuclear power plants."
Shock and amazement....somebody finally, talking about doing something "constructive"...that is needed...overdue by thirty years....and the biggest shock of all....using "Climate Change" as an excuse to do the sensible thing.....and what puts it over the top?......It is cheaper than any other source of power.....I think I'm going to faint..........
Old Pudfark sez: " I getta real charge outa that... "

Slick...I doubt that one of the jobs..Obama saves....will be his own.....

....unless he does a complete "about face" in the next three years....which, I really doubt....A huge "face saver" is the nuclear energy thing and a win for him & a win for us...if, he can carry it off....
Every party in power, the last thirty years, has totally ignored nuclear power for electricity....all you have to do is look at the Japanese & French...to know the benefit.....those folks don't know what a brown or black out is....
Old Pudfark sez: "Gitmo..would be a great place to store nuclear waste"

don't count out Obama. He ran on, and still runs with, responsiveness to public consensus. That is why I maintain faith in the guy. For the life of me, I can't see why folks write him off. All in all, he isn't the problem,
lack of leadership within Congress is, and has been the issue for 40 years. Think about it, 4 decades without a real addressing of energy, the economy, lost industry, Social Security issues, healthcare. Nothing.

more to the point, what was the consensus over? Universal healthcare? They already have it. Hating Obama?
Close to 60% of the voters said the administration was doing good, or excellent in their efforts. No, the consensus was that they were pissed off by politics as usual. Exactly the same consensus that got Obama an electoral college landslide 15 months earlier.

This is exactly why I say that foreigners such as yourself shouldn't comment on American politics. Massachusetts voters voted Democrat for the past 50 years, now all of a sudden a Republican? I know you're too thick to figure it out so maybe you oughtta ask someone who isn't as stupid as you are.
