hey Ruggie!

Post by callmeslick »

ya think I'm rough on you? Here, I present another quote(hopefully I don't Pud up the quote controls),
directed to a woman author of a Cultural Criticism column on a Liberal Political website. Do you think I made my point clearly enough to her?? ;)

callmeslick wrote:using gender as an excuse, now, are we? In an equal society, one would think that equal standards of intellectual discourse apply. I note you don’t, in any way, try to address my actual comments, merely deflect(none too deftly, nor subtly)with the
old saw, “you could never understand”. As a male, who has worked closely with a ton of women in the Medical Laboratory field for 30 years, I think I’ve listened pretty damned well, thank you, to the issues, concerns, suffering and roadblocks which women confront. Lack of two X chromosomes hasn’t prevented my capacity to learn and understand.
Why do I post here? Because no one else seems to have the temerity to state the obvious. You have no real deep insight into culture, you clearly have no business reviewing movies, and you insult the intelligence of anyone who really cares about the real issues facing the nation, with your glib analysis, weak factual arguments, misunderstanding of obvious artistic intentions and blind ideology. If this passes for cultural criticism, then Glenn Beck passes for a journalist.
I’ve tried to avoid stating it so bluntly, but there you have it, as you asked the question. You’re in over your head, and it’s painful to read. Sorry.

Point of order on that....Beck, adamantly and often, denies being a journalist now or in the past...I don't take him for one..

The rest of what you wrote..."she don't know shit from shinola"...and yer probably right....

You're not rough on me. Your opinions are childlike in their simplicity and singlemindedness. And you work in a lab? I know a lot of people who work in medical labs and the majority are women with a few (alleged) men...............says a whole lot about you. Nurse Slick.

I have no problem with my profession. Pays pretty well, and a lot of folks over 30 years have a better idea what's wrong with them, health-wise, as a result of my efforts. I figure I've done my part to keep costs down, as testing has become way more cost efficient over my career. So, once again, you resort to personal attacks, revealing who the childish one is.
Oh, and Pud, your point of order is well taken this time.....that was my whole point to the woman.

Net. Here's a pic. It's the ceiling.

I'll clear 25k on the master suite. I'll have 2 weeks in it. Here's a closeup of the embossed wallpaper.

Painted all the raised dealies by hand with an artist brush which is on top of the basecoat. Glazed over the top of that. So you can get an idea of the size of the house, the master closet goes about 1800 sq. ft.

The funny thing is that I make better money if you figure the hours when I do cabinet refinishing. I have a job coming up that's bid at 8k and I'll prolly only have about 30 hours or so in when it's all said and done. These were yellow oak:

These were maple:

I also do "budget" refinishing. This is one of the vanities I did for an investor that was flipping houses. I did the whole house but the before/after really shows what I can do. I have an hour and a half in this vanity, billed him $375. Material costs were about $20.
