Well when there few of them maybe its best to ground them keep them for future generations to enjoy

Well, fats, it really was 'one birds last flight'....bird strikes ain't funny. When I was flying all over W.Texas in my old C170, buzzards were a serious in flight risk. Best advice I ever got was to not make/take evasive action to avoid them...my speed was only 100kts and they had time to move. A 3/16" canopy ain't no protection. That guy was lucky, well trained and skilled.

Back in 1977 we picked a gannet out of a C-130 (nose) radome.
You can hit a C-130 in the nose with a base ball bat with all
yer strength and not make a mark. The bird (most of it) went
right through.

Birds + airplanes is never a good equation.
