we are, in the US, very very close to gasoline being sold for next to nothing except federal excise taxes and local, state taxation. The glut at the refineries has gotten really ugly with China suddenly not buying the stuff. Here in Delaware, Regular grade gas is about $1.52 per gallon, and IIRC, about $1.03 of that is taxes.
