Rystad Energy, a Norwegian consulting firm, noted in its July 4 announcement that nearly half of the untapped shale oil in America’s reserve is in Texas alone. Overall, the United States can claim 264 billion barrels of crude, compared to Saudi Arabia’s 212 and Russia’s 256 billion. The Oslo analysts estimate a global supply of 2.1 trillion barrels.

REPORT: U.S.A Now Has More Oil than Saudis, Russians
The Fourth of July might give Americans a new concept of independence after a global study was released showing the United States now leads Saudi Arabia and Russia in recoverable oil reserves thanks in large part to Texas.

good long term news, as the world weans down over the next 30 years or so. So long as the profits get re-invested into new tech, the future is rosy. The issue is taking the time to figure out how to get it out of the the ground without fucking up the groundwaters, and how to get rid of the waste without triggering earthquakes.

no, Pud, it is your feeble memory, coupled with lack of comprehension. As usual, my detailed opinion was a little too much for you to grasp. I said the reserves were there, but not economically viable. Which is still VERY much true, as you OUGHT TO KNOW, living in Texas and all. I've also maintained that by 2035 or maybe earlier, petroleum will become less viable on a few levels, and will be used less for energy than for manufacturing raw materials(plastics). Nothing in that report refutes what I said. The Saudi oil is cheap and easy to pump(that's why they've been doing so at a rapid clip), something else I pointed out long ago.

You'd be wrong about that too.....Saudi's are pumping oil to feck with the Iranians.....callmeslick wrote:no, Pud, it is your feeble memory, coupled with lack of comprehension. shows what you know. They're pumping to keep the indy fracking producers going broke until the big boys buy them up at wholesale prices. Bear in mind, Saudi oil largely is pumped by Exxon, Shell and a few others running the fields for the Saudis. That the oil glut fucks with the Iranians and Russians is just an extra bargain, but certainly not the key reason.

If that were the case? Oil would be $90 a barrel and R_D wouldn't have to bite the pillow so much....

Pud, can you read AT ALL for comprehension? If so, you failed that last attempt, based on your gibberish answer. Drunk again?

Keystone was an idiotic project. The output wouldn't have even been possible to refine at a profit. Good deal for a handful who own the right-of-way, but otherwise, Keystone was not a bright idea on a few levels, environment only being one of them.
