Pour on the doom and gloom, it's all you have left!
Now we have demonstrable evidence that if you try to lead from behind, eventually the guys up front will stop looking back for instructions.
Government-coerced expression is a feature of dictatorships that has no place in a free country
I'll lead with the downside risks, since you are expecting that, and follow with my positive hopes.
The depression thing is no joke, unless the tune from the campaign trail changes. Here is why: he already caused a 1/2 % uptick in bond interest with a dumb remark in the Summer. That rate will likely go up, and that affects how well we can transition our economy from the quantitative easing which was needed after the last Recession. The trend I've talked about in here will continue, unabated, putting more and more jobs into obsolesence with no real commensurate 'new' jobs coming in to replace them. Automation and a globally related economy will continue whether anyone wants to face it or not. This, coupled with an instant jump in healthcare costs for all once the ACA gets scrapped, and a harsh rise due to decoupling, in Medicare costs and you have the raw materials for a true economic meltdown. I hope I'm wrong, but certainly investing with EXTREME caution right now.
Positives? Look we all woke up alive and hopefully well, today, some more gleeful than others. Life goes on, and perhaps, with a taste of what is involved in making a SOCIETY coexist and move forward, some folks previously oblivious will realize that we better come FAR more together as a nation. I can't help but think there are at least as many shared values as opposing ones, and we better celebrate those and realize that these 50/50 elections aren't healthy for our nation, unless constant, ongoing compromise and coexistence don't start happening. As I say, perhaps Trump will rise to the job. Others have, and even if not, we've survived Millard Fillmore, US Grant, Calvin Coolidge, etc. Ours is a tough system so long as that system is respected by all. Once again, may the victors grow into that realization.
so, kudos to the victors. May they lead as a reflection of the trust placed in them on behalf of the whole nation. I respect the outcome and hope for the best........just don't expect me to invest my cash to any greater degree as I did on Obama's inaugural. I'll wait and see......
