The Democratic Party descends into 'civil war' after Clinton's loss

President-elect Donald Trump's unforeseen election win over Hillary Clinton has ignited immediate infighting inside the Democratic Party, with progressive members lashing out at the establishment wing for failing to defeat one of the most flawed Republican presidential candidates in a generation.

"There is no question there is a civil war taking place inside the Democratic Party," said Cenk Uygur, co-founder of The Young Turks, a progressive internet-based commentary program.

here, you want a serious response to a serious article? I've been online a bit, but not much since the election,as I had business in VA and a fishing trip for a couple days with eldest grandkid, so online BS was a waste of prepr time. Still, I see the 'civil war', and that's one way to describe it. I'd submit that the Dems have to determine WHO they wish to be: Moderate and inclusive, or left-only. Most of the adults in the room are ok with civil discourse, but some of the more extreme Bernie-types are having a general conniption that betrays political naivete. Hence, goofy demonstrations, demands out of line with any reason, calls for the Electoral College to not vote in Trump(did anyone think about the precedent THAT would set?, yeesh!),savaging online of anyone who DARES suggest that the left provably cost the Dems a gimme victory(I can show you pretty good data from my inbox on that one). At any rate, my few posts online were scathing(when you have limited time, you have to make it count), and pretty much addressed the leaders of some major leftwing activist groups(enviro, LGBT, other 'issue' groups) for not bothering to get their people out to vote, and reminding them that folks like me pay THEIR bills(contribute) and that my response to solicitations for the forseeable future was for them to go fuck themselves. We'll see where it goes, but until the far left learns to compromise with the moderates with common end goals, they'll lose everytime, and have proven that repeatedly for 20 years.

Another fair remark.... However, it's not going to happen for a good long while. Nobody is going to listen to the 'old' losing Dem's and they shouldn't. Nobody is going to listen to a 'new' progressive voice....for at least the next 8 years....and then? It's gonna take a decade or two...before anyone wants to quit their job and go 'socialist'. We'll both be dead by then. The folks who lost this last election will be our age or older and no one will care...so it'll be a coin toss?

you forget how recently the exact same was said about the GOP. Hell, Pud, they damn near won, save about 180,000 votes in 6 states. So, neither side is out of gas, discredited, or whatever. The Dems do need to unite, and political realities make odd bedfellows(see Preibus/Trump/Ryan). As always, the risk of overplaying the hand in a 50/50 environment is tempting and always backfires.

From what I heard on the news..this morning..you better tell that to Rham in Chicago...as he says he will defy Trump on the 'sanctuary city' thingy and fund the city out of his own empty pockets....

we'll see if such actually needs to take place.
