racist, hateful actions post Trump election....

Post by callmeslick »

....yes, some deplorable shit has been happening on that front, in the news. Now, Pud might wish to sit down when I say this, but what should be noticed by the nation is WHERE these are happening. This is a learning opportunity, as these have been happening in places like Boston, Wellesley, Hartford, New York, Philly, Lancaster, Lansing, Minneapolis......in other words, confirming what I've long observed. Overt, ugly racism and the like are FAR more prevalent in the North, and segregation and other oppression of minorities is way worse. Minneapolis is the most segregated city in the US, apparently. Detroit is not much better, nor is Philadelphia. By contrast, I just came back from a weekend in rural Virginia. No graffiti, no waving of Battle Flags in people's faces, nothing. Beyond a gentle ribbing by the Trump supporters of the Hillary voters, no crowing, no ugly bragging or stupidity and definitely no racial overtones to any discussion. In fact, I witnessed a largely white community celebrating our reaching a goal of financial assistance for a black single mom who is ill, and needs help. This very morning, I saw a young white fellow at the dump. He's from a long time waterman's family, good kid. Next to us, a pair of the local Mexican fellows pull up in their pickup, Young fellow literally embraces them in a bear hug, and introduces them to me, with the appropriate short geneology. Shaking of hands, off to another day. Very cool. I think a great amount of cultural understanding in BOTH directions needs to take place between North and South, Rural and Urban. Until then, we remain 50/50 and if you think that means Republicans running things, or, for that matter, ANYONE running much of anything but their mouths, you are mistaken. Meanwhile, the ship of state sails forth into the 21st century economic realities without any rudder. Not good.

Agreed, those protesters are racist hateful assholes.
You "Democrats" are violent thugs and must be dealt with by any means necessary.

That was a reasonable statement on the 'current events' of this week.....Slick. 8-)

Not trying to spike the ball, really not....The 'where' as in location is important...so is the 'who'...and them 'who's' all be Democratic Party and in office for decades. That being known....what's the fix. In my mind it is certainly not capitulation, but more of a incorporation, except this time in a far more meaningful way....that includes, a path out. Easier said than done. I admit.

However ^ it's the only way.

Gotta run..it's family game day...I'll be back and attempt again to have a meaningful convo on this subject...

not really. Remember, RULE OF LAW. INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN....etc. Sounds like the cooler heads are going to drop most everything.
