....and, to date, not one of you American critics of 'leftists and communists' has even tried to touch it.
Maybe that other post title is correct.....the truth hurts. That, and a situation that might take a generation to fix is a little too tough for you all?
callmeslick wrote:let's discuss the 'Economic Recovery' and, exactly, what we are trying(or expecting) 'recovery' from. Sure, everyone knows that housing went into the shitter, and the market dropped pretty good. More people got laid off, more quickly due to this, but(and this is a huge caveat), we've been dropping manufacturing for 30 years, we've been outsourcing engineering and other tech work for 15 or so. Ever since Ronnie Raygun, every piece of legislative action and every norm of society has gone to favor money earned through investment over money earned through hard work. And, why? Because the public has been sold on the concept that greater investment income will drive economic growth and be good for workers. Bullshit. When you make cap gains pay half the tax of wage gains, and force every Tom, Dick and Harry into the equity markets to plan a pension, you merely force the corporations to try and maximize short term profits. Hence, Indian and East European engineers do the work for IBM that would have been done here. Mexicans build American cars, all our shit is assembled in other countries, Bangaledeshis make our clothing and Indians answer the help line for your local phone company. And, damned if it doesn't work just fine for the segment of our population that can live all righteous and stuff off of dividends, interest, trading margins and other investment vehicles. If that isn't working out for you, then just maybe you might wish to consider working and voting for those willing to change it. And, here's a hint for you all: it isn't the crowd yelling about small government and lowering taxation. It isn't the other side, that talks about Unemployment and getting more illegal immigrants naturalized, either. And, therein lies the problem: there really aren't too many elected officials that give a rat's ass about the trend we've been it. The recession simply made the situation more acute, and the recovery, no matter how robust isn't going to bring the job market people seem to be expecting back.
or, maybe, as HappyHappy put it, this is one where you all agree with me........

one, that won't happen. Two, that won't address anything unless the entire focus of our nation changes.

Are you honestly suggesting that(and, I chose to ignore the absolutely moronic racism you seem to thrive on....shameful as it makes you look like a really small man) replacing Obama and starting from 'scratch' in the House and Senate changes anything? Who do you think is really running the show? Unless the nation comes together, and all sides accept that we are all citizens with a common cause, you will not achieve anything except anarchy. Hell, that's merely a radical version of the past 30 years: Put in the right-wing, throw them out. Put in the left-wing, throw them out. Back and forth it goes and the smart money just keeps raking it in.

Red Answer: It sure as hell will make a change...and I did not say who to replace them with...

Green Answer: George Soros

'tis a gift to be simple. And, that, Pud has to be the most simplistic view of a nuanced reality that I've read in a while. The old saying goes: be careful what you wish for, as you might get it. So it is with your idea. Who the hell are you going to replace the Congress with that cares about this stuff? I sure as hell don't encounter all that many. The wealthy tend to like stuff the way it is, the poor folks like to play the blame game, whether it be 'blame the black guy', 'blame the Mexican', 'blame Whitey' or whatever. Until we have a nation that remembers that our entire system rests on an intelligent, educated and involved population, working and compromising toward bettering the society, we're fucked.

George Soros? Get real. Hell, he has less real power than most of the families sending their kids to Yale and Harvard, or most of the old Southern money. He's showy and likes to piss his money away, but real power? No way.

So, you deny that Soros has no influence? He financed this "political" mess that we are in.....Simple? Life is as simple as the Ten Commandments...and our Government should be as simple as the Constitution and in particular, the Bill of Rights...
callmeslick wrote:Who the hell are you going to replace the Congress with that cares about this stuff?
Easy..... There are more than 535 folks in this country capable of doing those jobs...and of all those folks, as a certainty, they couldn't be any more dishonest and at least, at first, not as organised dishonest...throw in term limits and that limits dishonesty.

While the problems may seem complex to you...the answers are simple/transparent...and are found in our Constitution and Ten Commandments. Those that say otherwise are not real Americans. Who are you?

maybe if the people spoke

whats typical voter turnout for executives of state and federal level? less than 30%?

americans seem extra lazy about voting, more's the shame when they can do something about things but don't

is it already law that one must vote in usa? or would that be to register?

force everyone to vote, say by withholding tax returns...or...adding incentives, like a hot meal, shower, and quick exam by health prof. whatever works to have them come in and vote..for elections, laws or by-laws, whatever.

imagine if USA had over 75% voter turnout, i think politicians would quickly learn to become incredibly effecient ;)

oh, and have an exeptionally low cap on private funding, the federal gov provides a dept with resources and capital and built in media capability so all campaigning is on an even field, financially...i know that sounds like communistic free enterprise, if you will, but then again, isn't being fair to the next guy supposed to be "the american way"?(oh,wait..'supposed'...nevermind:P)

you guys need to lay the magna carta on those bitches in DC and every state captial, y'know?

In response to Dai's post.

Our vote was not originally meant to include every person that could walk in and vote. It was originally meant for educated, employed, and land owning white men.

It occurred to me a while back that voter apathy and an uniformed voter are dangerous to society. Seems to me that voter regulation could be enforced by simply doing away with electronic advertising. No TV, or radio ads. People would be forced to read to make a decision. The uninformed wouldn't know when it was time to cast a vote if they could not or would not read. That would stop the voting for a candidate that just LOOKS so COOL, tells me the lies I want to hear, etc etc....

It would make a big stink to try it, and it will never happen but if it did it just might take out the trash in more ways than one.
