North Korea, wtf?
I'm sort of surprised that so far, no one has brought up the current situation with North Korea. I mean, you have a nation literally threatening to use nuclear force in response to military exercises. I'd love the see the behind the scenes manuvering here.....especially what the Chinese have to say to the Dear Leader. That said, as my nephew put it yesterday, Kim is completely nuts, so there might be a 50/50 chance he could be serious.

but I'm not worried about nuclear war there yet. I think Kim used his one nuke to sink that S Korean destroyer

here's Hoping China steps up and disciplines their kids

Re: North Korea, wtf?
agreed.....I was envisioning the conversation along these lines:
Chinese leadership to Kim:"threaten nukes again and forget about the US, WE will level your sorry ass nation."
Kim:" we're sort of short on food, by the way....hello, hello?"

North Korea's posturing is a lot like Slick's.......all yap and no snap.....keep denying both of them their "fruit loops" and one day, one of them might get a little pissy.... N.Korea is as big a problem to China as it is to us. Perhaps, Slick, you should boycott N.Korea.

funny, I don't recall a time when the US (all of us) weren't boycotting North Korea. Do you?

I think you guys have exceeded your 5 minute limit.
Kim is desperate. he has a nation that is starving, one that China is even reluctant to help. he's dumped all his resources into his Military, which is a definate threat to the south. but I view N Korea more like the Pacleds from a star trek episode
Say all you want about Bush. he was correct about the "Axis of Evil" people like Kim, Ahmadinejad, and Chavez have too much power and not enough brains, that makes for a dangerous cocktail. the Major powers US, Russia, China, GB realise there is too much at stake to actually use nukes. but the others are without a doubt dangerous

Kim is just a thief. his desire to supply his bloated self ego and desires, is what has N Korea in this shape. he feels since his country has no discernable GP that he can force other nations into paying extortion with his 1 or 2 nukes. there is no doubt that he is a threat. the question is will China do anything about it? will China step up and be a world leader which is what they desperatly want. Does China even care? The Pakleds are a heavyset humanoid species native to the Alpha Quadrant. To the casual observer, the Pakleds appear to be intellectually challenged, especially in their verbal skills, which appears to the case to a great extent, but they have proven to be more cunning than they appear, however, and sometimes use their innocuous appearance to deceive other races.
The Pakleds' own technology (and, it seems, their intellectual development) is significantly less advanced than that of many other spacefaring races. They are driven by their unwillingness to develop technological knowledge on their own, desiring to instantly gain the power that other cultures enjoy. They therefore try to acquire technology from other species, generally by theft.

DPRK will not use nukes, now or ever.
Dear leader is sabre ratteling hoping to be appeased.
He prefers to use his nukes to extort money and favors from his enemys.
Lets look at the use of a seaborne nuke.
A suicide boat or more likely a suicide sub sinks a carrier or another warship.
Result?
The DPRK disappears in a flash of thermonuclear destruction.
Kim loves power, he is not likely to kill himself to make a point.
