that explains a lot
How about the Repubs vote for taxes?
the GOP has already said they'd raise taxes. apparently you missed that.

How about the Dems offer spending cuts. they haven't. in fact the only thing they offered was More taxes A LOT more taxes and another stimulus and more spending. but apparently you missed that too.
I guess they don't have television or news papers out there with the bears. or maybe it just comes back to the whole reading comprehension problem that you suffer from.
You really need to pay attention to everything that's going on. You seem to look at everything from the Repubs view.
I don't see Boehner agreeing with the taxes that Obama wants. Do you?

As slick said. Cuts in spending have been made, are being made, and are planned to be made. I don't see the wealthy paying more yet.

Lets not forget. The Rebubs lost. You don't get everything you want. No matter how much you whine about it.

maybe thats because Boehner hasn't seen any of the cuts that he wants. and have you even read those tax increases that Obama wants??

but that's the whole point isn't it. Obama wants HUGE tax increases and doesn't want any spending control. PLUS he wants a constitutional violation by trying to get congress to agree to no spending cap. you do understand that that is a violation of the Constitution and the separation of powers don't you

I think Obama feels that just because he on an election he has the ability to dictate. thats not how this nation works. this nation is checks and balances. I also think Obama forgets that the republican control the house. and hence control the purse strings. they have the power to start defunding anything that the President wants to do. Tip O'neal did it during the Reagan years. Obama has to work WITH the GOP if he wants to accomplish anything. that he has NEVER done or even attempted to do. just watch as the House starts to defund Obama care. it might be law but Congress and Congress ONLY has the power to fund or defund. the President and the senate have NO say in the matter. they president can propose anything he wants. might be hard to accomplish it without money.
As slick said. Cuts in spending have been made, are being made, and are planned to be made.[/quote ] where??? show me!!! give me one example of a cut being made OR being planned. the only option that slick alluded to was the nuclear option that was put in place because both sides couldn't reach an agreement last time, which by the way the GOP was stupid in allowing it to wait until after the election. their mistake was thinking that they were going to win. but now the pressure is all on Obama. he can try to demonize the GOP and he will do so. but in the public eye all they care about is results. if he cannot get them then he'll fail.
I don't see the wealthy paying more yet
YET, however the GOP did agree to tax increases. the Dems have not even proposed an entitlement cuts.

Lets not forget. The Rebubs lost. You don't get everything you want. No matter how much you whine about it.
Lets not forget, the republicans lost the "PRESIDENTIAL election.the Republicans still control 1 3rd of the government. the Democrats do not have free run of the Government and cannot dictate what will happen in this nation, and the chances of the Democrats winning the house anytime soon is slim, so is the President the Great Uniter as he claims to be. because so far he has made no attempt at it

I still "stick" to my OP in this thread....repubs all vote "Present"... ;)
I agree with Buzz, that the Dems won and they "own" it.

I am completely "for" the idea?
That the above scenario obviates/negates the traditional "blame game".

Old Pudfark sez: " Sometimes...it's smarter to roll with the punch, when? You can't avoid it.... "

I like your post CUDA. :)

The "checks and balances" deal was good...
Inwardly, I had a chuckle...as I read it.
I see it more as... "checks and negative balances"... ;)

It's gonna get interesting....to see....which party "blinks" first.

so what your saying is that with "checks" and "Balances"

that the "Checks" is the Democrats writing them.

and the "Balances" is the Republicans trying to pay for it :P

I see Obama willing to reform entitlements, but the Dems have to agree to the tax increase on the wealthy first to open the debate. If they're both going to stand their ground. It'll go nowhere. Dems only agreed to their version of tax increases. You would think that they'd realize this is one of the reasons they lost the election by now.

Hell, even the billionaires want their taxes to go up. The Dems position that it's going to cost jobs is bullshit. They try to snow the public with that statement. It's not working.

They need to just give in, and lets move on. If they say to Obama.....Ok, we'll agree to raise the taxes. Now, what do we get? That's negotiations. That's how to get it worked out. Nothing for nothing. Something for something. When one side is stubborn and won't move. Nothing happens.

It's not a "cliff" you bloody twits.
It's a manageable, adjustable deadline.
