Buzz wrote:I see Obama willing to reform entitlements, but the Dems have to agree to the tax increase on the wealthy first to open the debate. If they're both going to stand their ground. It'll go nowhere. Dems only agreed to their version of tax increases. You would think that they'd realize this is one of the reasons they lost the election by now.

Hell, even the billionaires want their taxes to go up. The Dems position that it's going to cost jobs is bullshit. They try to snow the public with that statement. It's not working.

They need to just give in, and lets move on. If they say to Obama.....Ok, we'll agree to raise the taxes. Now, what do we get? That's negotiations. That's how to get it worked out. Nothing for nothing. Something for something. When one side is stubborn and won't move. Nothing happens.
Like whut I said...ya didn't go fishing, ya went "smoking"....

I figured Buzz mean to say GOP instead of Dems.

but I don't think that Buzz knows that the GOP HAS offered tax increases, and the only thing that the President and the Dems have offered is more Taxes, more spending, and a Constitutional violation that gives them a blank check book. hence the impasse.

so dont blame the GOP. they have tried to do their part. while the Dems have not.

Really!!!

Show me where I'm wrong!!!!
Show me where the Democrats have offered anything but a want to spend more money.
Show me where I'm wrong about the constitutional violation of the separation of powers they propose.
Show me where they have offered anything even REMOTELY resembling a compromise to solve this looming crisis.
Show me where I'm wrong about the GOP offering to raise Taxes.
Show me where I'm wrong about the Democrats previous offers to cut spending, and then lying and not doing it.
Show me where the Democrats are serious about the problem.

SHOW ME

You can't. and you know why you cant. because I'm right and you know it. the President is playing a game of Russian roulette with the economy of this country.
The President is betting that the GOP is going to blink first. they might. but that's a dangerous game he's playing with yours and my future. and that is not leadership.
The President is an Idealog that has only one intention. to turn us into Europe. to turn us into a failed economic system that cannot sustain itself.

Show me I'm wrong

Hmmmm...I wrote Repubs, not Dems. Somebody with editing abilities is playing around.

Anyway, you know what I meant.

The Repubs are not offering the tax increase that Obama is asking for. Maybe, I should say the majority of the country is asking for. That should get you panties in a knot, but it's true if you think about it.

that may be correct. they might not be offering the trillions of more dollars that the President wants to spend. SPEND mind you, not lower the debt. or the deficit.. this nation already spends more than it produces every year. how is that sustainable?

but the negotiations have to start somewhere. the GOP IS offering tax increases. the Democrats on the other hand have offered NOTHING. only more spending and a Constitutional violation in their bill, they have put nothing on the table in the form of spending cuts. which the GOP will require to lower that debt and deficit spending. you cannot negotiate with a side that has no intention of negotiating. one side has already demonstrated a willingness to talk. the other has only made demands.

you must see that Buzz.

can you name me anything that the Democrats have offered that would make the GOP want to continue these talks?? just one bread crumb would be a start. so far all I've heard from both you and slick is GET OVER IT. neither one of you has addressed ANYTHING that I've said.

sorry GET OVER IT is not the way this country works. there are 3 main branches of this government for a reason. this government was designed so that one group of people cannot run roughshod over the other. compromise is the only way to solve our issues an to move forward.

The Dems are looking at entitlements, but we have to get past taxing the rich first.

Medicare has already been hit in the last 4 years. I know too many seniors who pay more now to not believe that.

Lets face it.The Rebubs don't want Obama to look good. They won't change that position. What else is the Rebubs offering to help the problem? Make those who can't afford it pay to keep the rich fat?

There's no easy answer here, but one thing is a sure thing. Getting the rich to pay more won't be a hardship for anybody, and I don't believe it will cost jobs like the Repubs claim. It never did in the past. Just like giving them tax breaks create jobs.

I guess your not hearing me. the GOP has agreed to raise taxes on the wealthy

agreed but there are more entitlements then just Medicare and there have been NO medicare cuts. medicare has been hit because of the rising heath-care costs. which by the way have gone through the roof since Obama-care. which was supposed to lower it.
Lets face it.The Rebubs don't want Obama to look good.
and vice-verse, the Dems do it. the GOP does it. it's call politics and has been going on the same way for centuries
There's no easy answer here,
agreed 100%

that is and has been debated and depending on which side you are on is where you stand. one thing is for sure. when Reagan took office tax rates on the rich were 90%. it was lowed to around 30% and this nation saw one of it's best economic growths in recent history.

anyway you cut it, unless the Democrats offer the GOP SOMETHING, then NOTHING is going to happen
